Money is the root of all evil so they say but this is only true if you do not know how to use money wisely and how to make money work for you. Any person who does not know how to use money properly and wisely will surely go into debt until such time that his credit rating is ruined.
A bad credit report will be a black mark on your list and will make creditors avoid you like the plague. But do not worry because you can still something to repair your credit ratings.
One option is to get the services of credit companies that offer to fix your credit for you. However, this will require another set of expenses since you have to pay them for their services. The best and most practical option is to fix your credit by yourself.
A person who is already up to his neck in debts should be more realistic and not expect to be rid of the negative records after a few weeks. Negative debt and bankruptcy records can be reflected in the credit report of a person for as long as seven to ten years. This is the reason why every person should take care of his credit ratings.
Never believe credit companies who claim that they can erase your negative credit ratings quickly. Most of these quick-fix companies offer empty promises which will only make the situation worse. The best solution to repair a person’s credit ratings is to find a way to cope up with payments that are past due and to keep future payments on time.
So how does one go about fixing his credit ratings and starting a clean credit slate?
It is best to check your credit statement first and make sure that all reported debts are valid. If you think that your credit has been denied for no reason at all then you can rightfully request for a credit report that will site the reasons why your credit is being denied. Sometimes, credit denials are just a product of errors like recurring accounts that has already been paid and this can be corrected following proper procedures.
If the negative credit report arises due to mistakes like when you are entitled to a credit limit of $10,000 but the reported limit is only $5000 then call the attention of the credit bureau by sending a registered mail which confirms receipt.
Once the reason for the denial of your credit has been verified and it is indeed valid then pay your outstanding balance. From then on, make sure to monitor your credit properly and pay the amount on or before they become due to avoid a mar on your credit report.
It is always advisable to keep records of your credit card statements and other debts so you will have some hard copy from which you can verify the credit report submitted by the credit bureau. If you have a coy of your transactions then you can easily dispute any errors by showing them your evidence.
There is no easy way to fix a credit record that has gone haywire. It takes a long time to establish good credit but it can only take a moment’s lapse to destroy a person’s credit ratings. You have to make sure you take care of your credit by being a good payer. This means monitoring your credit limit, the debts you have already incurred as against your limit and the exact schedule when these credits have to be paid.
While you are living in the world of plastics where possessing three or more credit cards is the norm rather than the exception, it is always more practical to maintain just a few cards that can cater to all your needs. This way you will be able to monitor your credit more efficiently and you will be more capable of paying them off when they are due.
Every person will incur debts at some point in his life. The debt can be minimal or in large amounts. But no matter how much a person owes, the settlement of credit should always be prioritized and should be paid on or before their due dates to avoid problems with your credit records.
